Do many men have cosmetic surgery? Cosmetic surgery in Sydney is becoming increasingly popular with men. There is no longer the stigma associated with looking after yourselves and trying to look your best. Role models like David Beckham have shown that you can be a rugged alpha male and yet maintain a healthy interest in your appearance.
What are the most popular male cosmetic procedures? In my practice the most common cosmetic surgery requests from male patients are for Botox, dermal fillers, liposuction, gynaecomastia reduction and rhinoplasty.
How much down time is involved? Different time commitments are required for the different procedures. Injection of Botox and dermal fillers are performed in clinic with patients able to return to work on the same day. Depending on the size of the area treated, liposuction can be performed as a day stay procedure or, at most, necessitate one night stay in hospital. Most patients will be back at work within a few days. The management of gynaecomastia varies from liposuction, through minimally invasive surgery to more extensive procedures depending on the extent of breast development. Less invasive procedures are performed on a day only basis with little or no time off work, while more extensive surgery results in a short hospital stay and up to one week off work. Finally I request that all of my rhinoplasty patients stay overnight in hospital and take two weeks off work after their surgery.
